metaweblog api (windows live writer) returns a 500 server error

Jun 12, 2009 at 6:25 PM

I just recently installed oxite on my website using IIS6. I went through the whole setting the route url prefix and other things to get it up and running, but now I'm having issues posting from windows live writer.

when publishing, it returns a 500 Internal Server Error.

any ideas?

Sadly, the latest release doesn't bubble up what the real error is.  We've changed our impelmentation of metaweblog since the latest release, but we're not ready with a new release yet so you can't move up yet.  :(

For the time being, the only thing you can do is use Visual Studio to attached to the process and see why it's blowing up.  Is it doing this on your development machine or in production?  WCF needs to be installed for it to work (the future version won't require WCF).

It's happening on my production machine.

I did track down the root cause of it; read somewhere that images cannot be uploaded through the metaweblog api (and oxite) at the moment

Ah, yes, correct.  Glad you got it figured out.  We'll change that in the next release so you can upload in Oxite.  ;)
